#1) Eat At A Calorie Deficit
It should be no secret to you now if you have read my other diet articles that energy intake and expenditure is the main determining factor in your body composition.
If you are trying to get lean for summer and to show off your physique at the beach, the first thing you will want to do is ensure you are eating at a calorie deficit.
If you aren’t eating fewer calories each day than you are expending, you WILL NOT lose fat, and that will prevent you from getting leaner.
Start counting your macros and calories, set a calorie goal for each day that is in a deficit that will allow you to lose weight and make sure you don’t exceed that in any circumstance.
#2) Do Cardio Regularly
Cardio is another extremely helpful tool that will help you further cut into a calorie deficit, as it will expend more calories.
By expending more calories, you will further increase the disparity between your calorie intake and your total daily energy expenditure, thus helping you get leaner faster.
#3) Get A Tan (Fake or Real)
Having a healthy bronze glow will help prevent you from getting that washed out look in the sunlight outdoors.
Having a tan will show definition and muscular separation that would otherwise go unseen if you show up to the beach looking like a ghost.

#4) Do A Water Load/Deplete To Peak Your Physique For The Beach
For competitions it is extremely common for bodybuilders to do a “peak week” in their last week leading up to the competition in order to drop all subcutaneous water retention that could be blurring their definition, striations and muscular separation.
If you want to peak your current physique for the beach later in the week, you can do the same thing by manipulating your water intake.
To do this, all you need to do for the days prior to the beach is drink a lot more water.
When you do this, your body naturally reacts by urinating more and expelling all the water retention it is holding, as it realizes you are feeding it so much H20 that it no longer has to hold onto water retention to sustain its hydration.
#5) Deplete Carbs For At Least A Few Days At Least Before The Beach
This is another method that is great for temporarily appearing leaner.
When you follow a low or no carb diet, there are no carbs in your body to soak up the water you are taking in.
Carbs act like a sponge and suck in the water you take in, that is why it is common for bodybuilders to gain 20+ pounds back in less than a 24-hour period after their competition.
