Halloween is one of the toughest times of the year for those who maintain a very regimented, healthy lifestyle. Having hordes of chocolate and candy in your house tempting you can be a struggle to stray away from to say the least. I’m going to let you know EXACTLY what I do each year to allow me to indulge a decent amount on all that leftover Halloween candy without negatively impacting my physique at all. It sounds impossible, but it’s not. It all comes down to calories in, versus calories out. By that I mean how many calories you eat in the day, versus how many calories your body burns in the day. How To Setup Your Diet For Your Designated “Binge” Day The best approach when waking up for your “binge” day is to avoid eating your first meal as long as possible. The longer you can hold off from eating, the more calories you will have room to consume later without damaging your physique. Ideally, each meal you eat prior to your candy binge should be very lean protein, and be very light on calories. Avoid carbs at all costs as those will spike insulin, and cause you to get hungrier, which will decrease your window of calories you will want to have at your disposal later for filling with candy and treats. By drinking mineral water, black coffee, and having portions of lean proteins like chicken, turkey, and very light fibrous meals like salads and other leafy greens, you can effectively control your appetite for the majority of the day. It is actually relatively easy to keep your calorie intake very low for the day when you avoid things that spike your hunger. Finally, once you’ve reached the time when you want to have your candy binge, you can go nuts because you will have allocated almost all of your daily caloric allotment into this window of time that you can binge on junk food. Don’t Make A Habit Of This Though Obviously I don’t recommend making a habit out of this, but it is the absolute best way to get to enjoy having a huge amount of treats, without over spilling your calorie intake to such a drastic degree that it will really negatively impact your physique. I actually do this myself once and a while when I’m having really bad cravings and I just want to indulge like crazy on sweets and other junk food for a day. Strategically move your calorie intake around, and you will be shocked how much more effortlessly you can maintain a lean body fat percentage without feeling trapped by an insanely strict diet.
