What drinking carbonated water does is the water itself will fill your stomach up with volume, which sends a signal to your brain of satiety, but also, the carbonation itself in the water will help you feel even fuller. You can literally eat an entire jumbo bowl of lettuce and other veggies and have it barely creep up past the 20-30 calorie mark for the entire bowl.
