This low calorie muscle building shake is not only extremely delicious, it will give you a fun and tasty way to reach your calorie allotment and protein intake goals for the day. Drinking whey protein in plain water can get pretty boring after a while, and this is a great way to mix it up, as well as add some healthy calories to your shake with vitamin and mineral dense fruits that your diet would otherwise be lacking. One of my favourite things to make in the summer (especially when it gets ridiculously hot out) is a protein smoothie. It is very easy to make, very diet friendly, and tastes absolutely phenomenal. If you have ever had a bubble tea slush before, this tastes literally almost identical, but with probably ¼ as much sugar and calories, and several times more protein. I use a Magic Bullet to mix my smoothies, but any blender will work as long as it can blend up fruit. To make this delicious protein smoothie, blend the following ingredients: 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk (use less or more based upon how thick you prefer the consistency of your smoothie) ¾ cup frozen strawberries ¾ cup frozen blueberries 1 scoop of your favourite flavour of whey protein A couple ice cubes Protein Smoothie Macronutrient Breakdown: 320 calories, 29 grams protein, 40 grams carbs, 8 grams fat Yes, it’s as simple as that. This is the perfect morning post-fasted cardio shake, or post-workout shake. While it certainly isn’t going to fit into a zero carb ketosis style diet, it can be utilized in any other diet which has carbohydrates in it.
